Is Your Presence a Present?

After failed fertility treatments and losing two children to miscarriage, my aunt suggested I call someone I had never met. Within minutes of our phone call, I felt engulfed in love by a complete and total stranger, Dana Carrozza. Within moments I found myself confiding in her with experiences I had only shared in prayer about my journey of infertility and loss. She prayed with me, and without even meeting face to face, she helped me. Strengthened me. Her presence was a present that day.

An elderly gentleman walked into a waiting room, alone. He smiled at the receptionist and then smiled at the other patients in the room. When asked how he was doing, he responded with, “I choose to have a good day every day,” again with a smile on his face. The dynamic in the office changed. It was brighter, more optimistic. His presence was a present that day.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”
~ Col. 3:12 -15

One kind act can start a chain of positivity. A smile can change the mood of a room. A helping hand can rescue someone in need.  Let’s make it our goal to make our presence a present, and brighten someone’s day today.
